World Pediatric Surgery Day

The Executive Council of the World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgeons announced 7th April as World Pediatric Surgery Day to create awareness for Pediatric Surgery and children requiring surgical treatment.

It was on 7th April 2001 that the landmark Kyoto Declaration of Pediatric Surgery was written that established the mission of the World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgeons to focus on the development and education of surgeons serving children, in all parts of the world.

This decision was announced in January 2023. This year, 2024, will be the Inaugural WPS Day.

We request you to celebrate the WPS day in your hospital, city, country and make it a truly global event.

The theme for 2024 is What is Pediatric Surgery? & Who is a Pediatric Surgeon?

    On behalf of EXCO WOFAPS, Hearty Congratulations to All Pediatric Surgeons for this day to discuss and create awareness on Surgical Conditions in Children.

    Objectives of WPS Day
    To spread awareness on Surgical Anomalies in Children 0-18 years that may be congenital, acquired, infective, traumatic or malignant. on both prevention and treatment aspects.
    To educate the Public on key identification symptoms of common surgical conditions
    To share experience as a Pediatric Surgeon
    To mentor young Pediatric Surgeons
    To practice Evidence-based medicine
    To continue to learn new skills
