7th April as World Pediatric Surgery Day

The Executive Council of the World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgeons has decided to announce 7th April as the World Pediatric Surgery Day with the aim to create awareness for Pediatric Surgery and children requiring surgical treatment.

It was on 7th April 2001 that the landmark Kyoto Declaration of Pediatric Surgery was written that established the mission of the World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgeons to focus on the development and education of surgeons serving children, in all parts of the world.

This important decision was taken unanimously by the WOFAPS Executive Council in its meeting held on 24th January 2023; to celebrate 7th April each year worldwide as the World Pediatric Surgery Day.
