About Satoshi Ieiri

Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Kagoshima University. He attended Kyushu University School of Medicine and received his medical degree in 1994.

His research interests include Hirschsprung’s disease and allied disorders, Anorectal Malformations, Esophageal Atresia, Hepatobiliary Diseases, Congenital Diseases, and Molecular Physiology (Intestinal Smooth Muscle, Calcium Signaling, and Signal Transduction). He also specializes in Computer-Aided Surgery, Development of Surgical Robotic Systems for pediatric surgery, Image-Guided Endoscopic (Navigation) Surgery, Specialized Training Systems, Skill Evaluation Systems for pediatric surgeons, Telemedicine and Global Pediatric Surgery.

He has published approximately 300 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, holds an h-index of 38, and has accumulated more than 4,200 citations. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Journal of Pediatric Surgery Open, Pediatric Surgery International, Journal of Pediatric Endoscopic Surgery, Frontiers in Pediatrics, Asian Journal of Endoscopic Surgery, and Surgery Today. He has been invited to deliver more than 50 lectures worldwide.

Prof. Ieiri is the current President of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons (JSPS) and the Immediate Past President of the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group (IPEG), board member of Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons (PAPS), board member of the Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery (JSES), and board member of the Japan Surgical Society (JSS).
