About Devendra Gupta
Devendra Gupta, is Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the premier All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He has trained over 70 pediatric surgeons, published 12 books, 266 peer-reviewed articles. He had been the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons and the Journal of Pediatric Surgical Specialties and on the Editorial-Board of 15 International Journals. His areas of interest include teaching, Neonatal surgery, pediatric urology and clinical and stem cell research.
He founded the SAARC Federation of Associations of Pediatric surgeons, the International society for Hypospadias and DSD and the Society for Regenerative Medicine. He organized 58 conferences, including the Asian Congress and the World Congress of Pediatric surgery. He has delivered 363 guest-lectures, 10 named Orations, 6 University Convocations, several Key Note Addresses including the Keynote Lecture at the parliament Hill, Canada. He has been invited as the Visiting Professor to various Universities and training centers in over 70 countries.
Dr Gupta has been the President of the Indian Association, the SAARC Federation, the Asian Association and the President of the World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgeons. He served as the Vice Chancellor of King George’s Medical University, Lucknow for 3 years. He has received Life-time Achievement awards, the RK Gandhi Gold Medal, Rickstamann Medal, Imre Pilaszanovich Medal, Lecturer of the Year Award from Graz, Austria, Honorary FRCS from Glasgow, and Edinburgh, FCS from Srilanka and D.Sc (honoris Causa) from Romania.
